Personality Characteristics and traits of the Patients with Alcohol Dependence and Their Spouses

Abstract

|
The authors administered the Korean-standardized Cattell's 16 Perrsonality Factor questionnaire to the 45 patients with alcohol dependence and to their 18 spouses. In first stratum source traits, the patients with alcohol dependence showed more significant C-factor(low ego strength), H-factor(shyness), m-factor(Autia), and O-factor(guilt Ppronness) than those of their spouse. In second stratum source traits, the patients with alcohol dependence showed more significant ANX-factor(high anxiety) and CRE-factor(high creativeity) than those of their spouse. The above findings suggest that the patients with alcohol dependence have intense anxiety and creativity that are not progressive. Also, they have personality characteristics such as low ego strength, boldness, autia, guilt-proneness.
